Rekey or replace your locks?
Rekeying changes the pins inside your existing lock so old keys stop working. It costs less than new hardware and suits locks that are in good shape. Replacement makes sense when a lock is worn, rusted or broken, or when you want a higher grade of deadbolt or a smart lock. If you are not sure, our technician can look at the hardware and explain both options before you decide.
We work with major residential brands, including Schlage, Yale, Mul-T-Lock, Falcon and ASSA, and we can tell you which grade of lock fits each door.
Just moved in? Start with the keys
Previous owners, tenants, agents and contractors may still hold copies of your keys. Rekeying every exterior door when you move in is one of the simplest security upgrades you can make. Read more in our guide on why to rekey when you move.
Apartments and rentals
Property owners can book lock changes between tenants, and renters can ask about rekeying with their landlord's permission. For apartment lockouts, see what to do when you are locked out of your apartment.
Frequently asked questions
Can you match all my house locks to one key?
Often, yes. If your locks share a compatible keyway, we can rekey them so one key opens every exterior door. If they don't, we can explain which locks would need replacing.
Do you install smart locks?
Yes. We install keypad and app-controlled smart locks on standard residential doors and can advise on models that suit your door and how you use it.
Will opening my door damage the lock?
We use non-destructive entry methods first. In rare cases a damaged or high-security lock has to be drilled, and we will explain that before doing it.
